Review: In Cold Blood

In Cold Blood In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this when I was pretty young and I think it's probably responsible for my addiction to all things murder mystery. It's disturbing because it's true and it happened at a time when that kind of thing didn't happen as often as today. Truman Capote himself was very interesting and I wanted to learn all I could about him after reading this book.

Review: Undead and Unwed

Undead and Unwed Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Undead and Unwed probably isn't a book for your brag shelf but it is really funny. Satire is definitely something I can get behind. Sometimes you just need to read something purely for entertainment value and to hell with critical success or what the damn NEW YORK TIMES thinks of it, it can still be good! I will read more in this series and I don't care who knows it!

Review: Bookends

Bookends Bookends by Jane Green
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was my first Jane Green novel. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say that it was worth it. You'll remember these characters long after you've turned the last page and though the story may be average, it's the heart of the book in it's entirety that keeps it on your mind. Enjoy!

Review: Déjà Dead

Déjà Dead Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Eh... It has all the elements I usually love but I just never got into it. I mean, really, a month to read 411 pages? That's not like me. And it's no bueno because I bought several books in this series thinking I would love it.

To be fair, I think it's my problem. I know that the show Bones is based on this series so I'm comparing it to the series and as we all know, books and their Hollywood versions are vastly different.

2017 - It's been a few years now since I've stopped watching the show so I should try again without that in my head. I really think this series will live up to it's hype and I'm ready to give book #2 a try. Look for that review soon.

Review: Ford County

Ford County Ford County by John Grisham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This a collection of short stories, which usually turns me away but I'm so glad I read this. It has made me see that these books can be as fulfilling or more so than longer novels. And I'm telling you, the last story - Funny Boy - absolutely as brutal as it is beautiful. Loved every one of them though.
